Service Areas
Six areas, and the septic picture differs sharply from one to the next.
We cover Cape Coral, Fort Myers, North Fort Myers, Pine Island, Lehigh Acres, and San Carlos Park. Between them they hold tens of thousands of properties on septic tanks, but the share ranges from nearly all to almost none. Two of the six are heavily sewered already. The pages below set out what is actually true in each place, including where sewer is coming and where it is not.
The useful question is not whether an area is on septic. It is how much of it is, and whether that is likely to alter.
Two kinds of figure appear, and they are not interchangeable. Knowing which is which saves you being misled.
A permit-backed count comes from the state parcel inventory, where each parcel carries a record of what was installed. That is the stronger kind, and it is what most of the counts above use. A planning estimate comes from the county's wastewater master plan, which models density across a wider candidate area rather than counting individual records. Those numbers run higher, sometimes by a factor of three.
Where the two disagree, this site uses the permit-backed figure and says so on the page. Cape Coral is the one place where neither number is trustworthy, because no parcel-level septic count has been published for the city. The Cape Coral page uses the land-area figure instead and explains that it is measuring something different.

All six areas above are covered, though a property on Pine Island or out past Lehigh Acres is a longer run than one in Cape Coral. It is worth asking about your address before you book rather than after. If you are outside these areas, call anyway. We would rather tell you honestly that we cannot reach you than leave you waiting on a callback that never comes.
