How this site is built, and how to get help if it does not work for you.

We want this site to work for everyone who needs a tank pumped, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, or enlarged text. Below is what the site does today, and where it still falls short.

What we work toward

We want this site to be usable by everyone who needs a septic tank pumped. That includes people who use a keyboard, people who use a screen reader, and people who enlarge text in the browser.

We have not commissioned a formal audit, and this site carries no third-party accessibility certification. What follows is an honest description of what is in place and what is not.

What has been checked

Every page has one main heading, and headings follow a logical order.
Every image on the site carries alternative text that describes what it shows.
The cutaway diagram on the home page is marked as an image with a written description, so a screen reader announces what it shows rather than reading scattered labels.
The page language is declared, so a screen reader uses the right pronunciation rules.
Link text describes where it goes when it is read aloud on its own.
Table header cells are marked up as headers, so a screen reader can announce which column a figure belongs to.
Keyboard focus is visible on every interactive element, with a high-contrast outline.
Cost tables scroll sideways on a narrow screen instead of overflowing the layout.
The text colours used for body copy and calls to action clear the WCAG AA contrast threshold of 4.5 to 1.
Animation respects the reduced-motion setting in your operating system.

Where this site falls short

Two gaps are worth naming. The pages here do not use a main landmark, so a screen reader cannot jump straight past the navigation to the content. There is also no skip link for the same purpose.

The labels inside the home page diagram are set in fixed pixel sizes. They scale with page zoom, but they will not respond if you use a text-only zoom setting.

We would rather set these out than claim the site is finished.
